Nagathan is a reserved constituency in the district of Vijayapura, Karnataka. The sitting MLA here, Devanand Fulasing Chauhan, is from the JD(S).
When The Lede Hit The Highway and met Nagathan voters, they said that while the MLA has support among some sections in the constituency, he is also facing the ire of many of his constituents who allege that he has not visited them or laid roads in the area.
For the Congress, district president Raju Alagur is expected to be given the ticket, as per the residents of Nagathan. But many want Minister Govind Karjhol’s son, Gopal Govind Karjhol, to be given a ticket by the BJP here, since they feel that only the BJP has carried out development works.
Residents also say that Gopal Karjhol visits them regularly and asks them about issues faced in the area.
