Eshwar Khandre, Working President of the KPCC, told The Lede in an interview that the Congress is looking at wooing back the Lingayat voters who had jumped ship to the BJP since 1990, when he was sacked as Chief Minister of Karnataka by Rajiv Gandhi.
The unceremonious dismissal of an ailing CM was viewed as an insult to Lingayats and the community shifted its loyalties en masse to the BJP.
Now, Khandre, a Lingayat himself, wants the Congress to win the community back and the first step, he said, was to poach Lingayat leaders from the BJP.
Do watch and share.
